Heeowhat Beach

Heeowhat Beach ?  On Cape Panwa, the peninsula leading out into the Andaman Sea on Phuket’s west side just south of Phuket Town, is a large bay facing east-northeast called either Heeowhat Beach, or Panwa Beach – depending who you talk to. On Google maps, it is listed as Panwa Beach. You can easily reach it by coming in from Phuket Town on Sakdidet Road, and the beach is on your left. Heeowhat Beach is between the Phuket Deep Sea Port at the north end, and the Amatara Wellness Resort on the south end. There is also a little bit of residential property and a few shops on the passing road.

Heeowhat Beach is around a kilometer long from end to end. The sand at Heeowhat Beach is soft, and there are lots of rocks around – which, looks nice, but hints at what lurks under the surface. Under the water is mostly soft bottom consisting of sand and mud with some rocks strewn about. There is a coral reef out away from the beach, which could provide some mediocre snorkeling if you were desperate, or you could take a boat out to one of the islands offshore for some excellent snorkeling instead.

Heeowhat Beach is great for relaxing, there are shade trees – coconuts and other trees – to keep it cool if you don’t prefer to get too toasty in the full sun. Unfortunately, the Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach hotel has not supplied the beach with lounge chairs or umbrellas.

The Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach hotel is found on the south end of the Heeowhat Beach. This is a fancy 5-star resort with prices starting around 7,800 THB for a night. Besides nice accommodations and friendly staff, the location is close to Phuket Town which makes it convenient if you will be doing some shopping
