Cherngtalay in Phuket

The area called Cherngtalay sits next to Bangtao Beach on the northwest side of Phuket Island, north of Surin Beach and Layan Beach. The center of Cherngtalay is Boat Avenue, and you can find the area with ease on Google maps. Be aware that sometimes the spelling differs, and you may see Choeng Thale on Google and signs around Phuket. Same place!

Cherngtalay is a large shopping district with hundreds of shops from souvenir stores to huge supermarkets and clothes shopping centers. Of course, where there are shoppers, there is food! Indeed, the area has a wide selection of fast-food restaurants, deli, health food shops, and plenty of street stalls where you can find grilled meats or seafood as well as fruits, fruit smoothies or fried snacks such as Roti.

There are also some fine dining restaurants! You can enjoy great dining experiences at Divino Tapas, The Frying Kiwi, Luca Cini, Iniala Kitchen & Bar, or the SKYE Lake Club, to name but a few.

There are as well many shops you may recognize by name in the area. Chaba, Bliss, Paul Ropp, BeerBox Avenue, Red Frog, Wings by hejselbjerg, PlastArt, Cozy Company, and Fe2 Décor all run outlets.

If you don’t want to visit the stores, you can head straight to the big local market. They have all kinds of food and drinks, snacks, and desserts for you to try there. If you’re shopping for clothes, you can find something fashionable here too. Vendors buy their items in Bangkok, where fashion is trendy, and resell there wear at the market.

If you cannot find a shopping spot you love in Layan, Bangtao Beach, or Surin Beach, this is the place to go as it is so close. However, you’re first and foremost going to enjoy Boat Avenue and Lagoon Road.
