Tonsai Waterfall

Tourist Attraction Thalang, Phuket, Thailand

Tonsai Waterfall in Thalang is just 10.3 km (or 15 minutes) away from Bismarcks Paradise Phuket luxury villas resort.

For those looking for a more nature based or scenic day out, we suggest visiting the lovely Tonsai Waterfall. One of three waterfalls found on this beautiful island, it is located on the northeastern part of Phuket. While it is not as popular as it’s neighbor, Bang Pae Waterfall, it is still a great day out for nature enthusiasts.

Found on the western side of Khao Phra Thaeo National Park and buried in the lush forestry of the park, the 2 kilometer trek alone boast some of Phuket’s oldest woodlands. For those who are looking for all day adventure, we suggest making the trek from Tonsai Waterfall to the Bang Pae Waterfall. You can even hire a guide to take you there from the information center located at the entrance to the park.

While the waterfall is the main attraction to the park, it most certainly is not the only unique feature that draws in tourists and locals year after year. Here you will find the rare white backed palm (kerriodoxa elegans), a species of palm tree exclusive to Thailand and first discovered in the national park in 1929.

Another unique aspect of Tonsai Waterfall is the plethora of colorful local birds, some of which are endemic to Thailand, and the seasonal visitors that migrate here every year making this delightful spot for bird lovers and enthusiasts to sit and marvel the wonders of nature.

There are two small restaurants at the entrance as well as the above mentioned information center. There are plenty of shaded areas for a picnic or a cool place to rest and also decent WC facilities, a car park and children’s play area. Similar to the Bang Pae Waterfall there is a 200 baht entrance fee which gives you access to the whole park. The park is open from 9am until 6pm daily.
