The Tasty Fest Phuket Town festival is a yearly event that is held in September, starting on a Friday and going on till Sunday, usually on the second weekend of the month. It is in fact much more than just what its name suggests. There are many other things then “food related” going on in the festival, making it worth heading over there for. Unfortunately, there will be no festival held in 2020 (canceled)!
The Tasty Fest always has live music – concerts, singers and other musical performances. Something out of the ordinary that you might find interesting is a cooking show and chef battles – where two chefs make something and see which one is better. There are flower displays and ice-carving demonstrations as well as other art-related exhibits and demos.
There is food of all sorts at the Tasty Fest, from all over Thailand but mostly the southern Thai food style is represented the most. You can find pad Thai, yellow rice and chicken. Barbecued chicken, pork, shrimp and squid are of course represented. You can find just about any quickly made Thai dinner available. For dessert, there are a hundred different options; but if you never had roti, this would be a great time to try it. Fruit, fruit drinks and smoothies of all kinds can be found at the dozens of food booths located around the festival grounds. If you haven’t tried a coconut smoothy, you might want to add that to your bucket list, as they can be mouth-watering and delicious.
The location of the Tasty Fest Phuket Town festival is on Limelight avenue, right in Phuket Town at Thalang Road and Dragon Square. This is the same place you can find the large Golden Dragon (Hai Leng Ong). From Patong Beach, you can probably reach the festival in about 35 minutes without too much traffic. Festivities take place nightly from 4 pm. to 10 pm.
