Talad Kaset Night Market

When you’re in Phuket, there are plenty of tourist things to do, and you couldn’t possibly do them all, even in a couple of weeks. Maybe one night you’re craving something new? Want to see what some Thais do for a night out? There is a cool little night market called the Talad Kaset Night Market on the southeast coast of Phuket Island, near Koh Sire Island, that you can visit for something different.

Talad Kaset Night Market is similar to other Thailand markets, so it has the usual assortment of clothes shops such as leather items, dresses, kids shops, hats, shorts, tourist t-shirts, flip-flop sandals and other touristy items. There are also dozens of food stalls to choose from, probably more like a hundred. You can eat snacks, fruit, smoothies or/and find whole meals of noodles or other dishes you can eat while walking around and shopping. Or you can sit down at a table and eat your meal while watching one of the shows on the stage.

Sometimes there are kids doing shows – singing or dancing is popular. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a traditional Thai dance show. Usually there is a live band, and it can be a fun place to sit around for a couple of hours with no pressure.

Some people visit Talad Kaset Night Market just to sit down, watch people and drink beer. Others try some of the many snacks and buy cheap items to give away to friends back home. Whatever you choose to do, this will go down in your memory as one of the most laid-back nights of your vacation.

The location of this market is easy to find. If coming from Patong Beach, you can head over the mountain to Phuket Town and take Phuket Road south to Saphan Hin, where you’ll find the market on the left, open after 5 pm.
