Golden Dragon Phuket Town

The Golden Dragon Phuket Town is a famous dragon statue that can be found at Queen Sirikit Park in Phuket City on the east side of the island of Phuket. The Thai name is, “Hai Leng Ong”.

Queen Sirikit Park was constructed to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen Sirikit’s seventy-second birthday in 2004. The Golden Dragon statue was later added to the park in 2006 to commemorate the sixtieth year of His Majesty the King’s reign (King Bhumibol Adulyadej).

On the opposite side of the park, the imposing golden-colored statue of a dragon emerging from the water dominates the entrance to Queen Sirikit Park.

Local residents, particularly those of Chinese descent, make offerings and light incense and candles at the site of the statue to honor the creature and to request the protection of the land of Phuket and its people.

The Golden Dragon Phuket Town is located very close to the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Phuket Town on the east side of the island.
