Thailand is filled with markets that are open day and night, usually one or the other, and on Phuket it’s no different. The largest market in Nai Yang, Thai Nai Yang Market, is this massive evening marketplace with more than 200 stalls. You’ll find all sorts of goods for sale such as fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, furnishings, souvenirs, shirts, pants and dresses, toys for kids and even deep-fried bugs or frogs which sometimes are on the menu here. Food includes lots of noodle dishes as well as fried dishes of every kind. You can get fruit smoothies, green tea smoothies, just about any smoothie or other cold beverage. There is surely something here to eat that you’ve had the chance to eat before or not. Almost all food items are pre-cooked and ready to eat, so you can snack as you walk around and survey the hundreds of meters of small stands.
To reach this market, find Nai Yang Beach which sits just south of the Phuket International Airport and north of Laguna Beach, and from there just locate Sirinat National Park. On the backside of the park is this market – away from the beach. Be sure to check the odd days and hours this market is open so you don’t miss it (details below).
