Rang Hill, Phuket Town

Rang Hill is a famous viewpoint in Phuket Town on the Island of Phuket, Thailand

Khao Rang Hill is probably the most famous view point of all the viewpoints that are spread around the island. The Big Buddha, neighbouring islands, Phuket Town itself and the south of Phuket Island can be seen from up the Khao Rang summit. The latest addition to the Rang Hill viewpoint is the panoramic terrace which was officially introduced in 2014, only to enhance the importance this place has for the tourists that flock year in and year out to the summit.

The locals also seem to enjoy themselves on Rang Hill, this beautifully landscaped park with children playground and fitness apparatus, sometime after work for meetings with colleges or with friends and family in the evening and weekend. Even through the hot season it always seems to be a bit cooler with the light breeze providing a breath of fresh air.

Driving up to Rang Hill, coming from Yaowarat Road, you will be pleasantly surprised to find the first ever Sitting Buddha statue in Phuket inside, actually overlooking, the Wat Khao Rang. The Yaowarat Road will take you to the Vachira Hospital and if you keep on driving a little further you will pass the Bangkok Phuket Hospital and, by turning left on the T-crossing, you’ll find yourself close to the Chillva Market and the big Tesco Lotus shopping mall.

Once you arrive on top of Rang Hill you can enjoy either the the Tunk Ka Cafe, the longest running restaurant on Rang Hill, or try what the latest addition, the Khao Rang Breeze, has to offer. Being one of the only viewpoint which is actually not on the west coast it might be a good idea to enjoy a romantic sunset dinner rather here than on the absolutely more crowded sunset view points on the west coast.
