With so many wonderful panoramic sceneries and viewing points to stop at and take them in, it’s hard to decide which ones to visit, especially for those who do not have a lot of time in Phuket. While we do urge you to try and see as many as you can, if you can only manage a few, then we suggest you make Radar Hill Viewpoint one of your priorities before you go.
Located high above the city of Patong, Radar Hill Viewpoint is the second highest peak on the whole island and stands at an impressive 529 meters above sea level. Although a bit tricky to get to, the effort definitely pays off as you will be privy to some of the most spectacular panoramic view that the island has to offer. The views on the way up are almost as striking as the sights from the top, with clear views out over Chalong Bay and surrounding islands, as well as the Bang Wad Reservoir, it’s worth the time to stop and snap a few pics!
Once you reach the top, you are in for a real treat. Quietly perched below, you will see the city of Patong spread out before your eyes, as if the image was taken straight off a postcard; the brightly coloured buildings and turquoise shades of the Andaman almost seem surreal from where you stand. If you turn around and face the other way, your gaze will be met once again with the staggering vista of Chalong Bay, only this time from a bird eye view. And, if you are really lucky and manage to get there on a clear day, you will be rewarded with the glorious sights of the Phang Nga Bay and its neighbouring islands. To say the sights from up there are breathtaking would be an understatement.
With ample parking for both mopeds and cars, as well as two rounds picnic tables, you are free to sit and enjoy an afternoon watching the movements of the cities below, as if they are all part of a giant toy town. Because Radar Hill Viewpoint is one of the lesser known viewpoint around Phuket, you are guaranteed a peaceful and quiet atmosphere; and you gaze out over the wonders that our tiny island holds, without fret or worry of a tour bus suddenly appearing and unloading hundreds of tourists. We don’t know about you, but in our books that makes this viewpoint an ace in the pack!
