Naka Yai Island

Naka Yai Island, Phuket
Naka Yai Island lies four kilometers from Ao Por Pier on Phuket northeast coast, near Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Sanctuary. The island is just about 2.6 kilometers long and only around one kilometer at its widest point. Moreover, Naka Noi, the sister just a fraction of its size in landmass, sits only one kilometer away to the south.

If you are starting from Patong Beach, you'll have to take the highway over the mountain and into Phuket Town. From there, you'll have to drive up Highway 4027 and on to the Ao Por Pier on the coast. You can then take a longtail boat from the pier to Koh Naka Yai. The boats are always available from November to April. However, the rest of the year depends on the mood of the sea!

As you'll be traveling to Koh Naka Yai, you might also want to stop and enjoy Koh Naka Noi. Just make sure to arrange this with the longtail boat captain beforehand!
