Hong Island

Hong Island, Phuket
Hong Island (Koh Hong) is in the Andaman Sea and much closer to Krabi province than to Phuket Island. This small island is less than one kilometer long in all directions, with its predominant section shaped like a dogleg.

The island sits just seven kilometers to the west of Krabi’s Nong Talay sub-district. It can easily be reached by longtail boat from anyone of Krabi’s nearby beaches. Krabi is to the east and, equidistant from both (about seven kilometers) to the west, are Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai.

If you start from Patong Beach, you can take the highway over through Phuket Town. Then drive up Highway 4027, and on to Ao Por Pier, on the northeast coast of Phuket.

Speedboat tours leave daily when the weather is good, and the trip is about 35 kilometers if going directly. However, there are other islands stopovers on most tours from Phuket.
