Palai Beach Phuket is a small tree-lined beach south of Phuket Town on Phuket Island’s southeast coast. The Palai Beach faces south and doesn’t pick up either sunrise or sunset directly, but the skies can still be beautiful at these times.
You can reach Palai Beach by taking Highway 4021 south from Phuket Town and making a left on Soi Palai . You will pass the Phuket Zoo on your right, and it will be just under one kilometer from there at the end of that road at the water.
Palai Beach is not a swimming beach, the water is green and the bottom is soft and muddy. There are long-tail boats anchored here to transport tourists to other beaches or islands off the coast of Phuket. There is a long seawall and sidewalk where you can take walks. It is in good condition, new, and baby strollers are no problem. There is a long pier, and a sandy beach, but you probably won’t see anyone there – it just doesn’t attract visitors when there are so many other nice beaches close-by to visit.
Palai Beach does have something for tourists besides swimming, snorkeling and other water activities though, a couple of good restaurants! Locals know about these, and the boat drivers all know how good they are, so if you’re in the area around meal-time, you should stop and treat yourself to a fine meal at Palai Seafood, it’s the best of the restaurants along the beach.
