Koh Racha Noi

Koh Racha Noi Island is directly south of Phuket Island by 27 kilometers and is part of Phuket province. This is the smaller sister island to Koh Racha Yai, just 8 km. to the north-northwest. Koh Lanta Island is 80 km. due east, and the Phi Phi Islands are 53 km. west-northwest. Though small in area, the two islands comprising Koh Racha Noi are fairly long at 3.8 and 3.2 kilometers, and have a total of 20 kilometers of coastline with just 3.64 km2 of land area. The Koh Racha Noi islands are covered with heavy forest and the coasts are rocky with small areas of rough sand. These islands with a rough coast are not ideal for swimming and spending time at the beach, but there is some good snorkeling along the shallows of the east coast of the islands.

Reaching Koh Racha Noi and Yai is easy from Chalong Pier in Phuket and the journey will be about twenty-five minutes by speedboat. If the waves are very calm, you might rent a long tail boat for a two-hour trip but it is much more comfortable by bigger and faster boat. Another option is to take a deep-sea fishing charter from Phuket to Koh Racha, the fishing is said to be excellent.

There are no accommodation or places to eat on Koh Racha Noi, you will need to head north for the bigger Koh Racha Yai island where you can find both.
