Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong (Wat Chaiyathararam)

Wat Chalong (aka Wat Chaiyathararam) is the largest and most frequented of Phuket’s 29 Buddhist temples. If you are in Phuket and you only have time to visit only one temple … then the Chalong temple should be it. It is the temple which is dedicated to Luang Pho Chaem and Luang. Not only because these the two monks played a pivotal role in leading the local Chalong community in the Chinese rebellion in 1876, but also because with their deep and profound knowledge of herbal medicine they were able to help the injured.
