Kata Noi

Kata Noi is the smaller area of Kata ('Noi' meaning small in Thai language). Kata Noi Village and Beach are located just south of the main village of Kata, further away from Patong Beach. You can reach it by taking Highway 4233 south from Kata, and you'll be right into Kata Noi in minutes. The beach is nestled in a small bay and is one of southwestern Phuket’s more or less hidden treasure. With just over 700 meters (766 yards) of soft sand space, this is a virtual paradise for the few people who know and go to this beach, especially during low season. The closest road is almost 100 meters (109 yards) away, so the beach is quieter and more secluded than its bid sister Kata Beach, which has a road running right beside it. Kata Noi Beach is more peaceful than most of the beaches on Phuket, so if that’s one of your requirements, don’t miss this one. Though it’s one of the smaller beaches in length, the beach is as wide as most of Phuket’s beaches, around 30 meters (33 yards), and the view is superb. The beach is great for swimming, as there is a clear spot free of rocks in the center. Swimming and snorkeling is perfect from November to April. You’ll be happy you brought your snorkel gear for the north and south ends of Kata Noi Beach because there are plenty of submerged rocks to explore for fish and other sea life. The water is ultra-clear during high season, and yet the area remains relatively uncrowded. This is an ideal spot to get away from the crowd. If you’re a surfer, the waves here can be good from May to October. If you would like to get an excellent photo of three beaches next to each other in a row, you should take the time to go to the Karon Viewpoint on Highway 4233, going south from Kata Noi as if you were going the whole way to Promthep Cape viewpoint. You can get a photo from high up on the hillside of three amazing beaches: Karon Beach, Kata Beach and Kata Noi Beach. Morning photos are fine, because the sun will be behind you in the east. For sunset, you will see less blue in the water but the sunsets can be mesmerizing from here. Because you are already most of the way there, you can head straight to the Promthep Cape restaurant just fifteen minutes away, for excellent views of sunset and delicious Thai and seafood. On the way there, you’ll pass two more nice beaches: Nai Harn and Ya Nui. Ya Nui is one of our personal favorites! Following are a few restaurants you can go and enjoy a nice meal in Kata Noi: - Leonardo Da Vinci Restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine and seafood, and has received the best reviews of all the restaurants in Kata Noi. - Promthep Cape Restaurant is located on the way to Promthep Cape, has a fantastic panoramic view and serves excellent food, as we already mentioned above. There are a few highly rated resorts, such as the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort and the The Shore at Katathani, if you are looking for a place to stay in Kata Noi.
