Read Introduction
There are six major 18 hole golf courses on the island of Phuket, all of them high quality courses: in the north, you'll find the Blue Canyon Country Club located near the airport; more in the central part of the island, there are the Laguna Phuket Golf Club in Cherngtalay and the Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort & Spa in Thalang; and finally a bit more in the southern part of Phuket in Kathu district, you'll find the Phuket Country Club as well as the Loch Palm Golf Club and the Red Mountain Golf Course (Phuket’s newest course). You’ve probably seen the Phuket Country Club course as it is just off the main road leading from Patong Beach to Phuket Town. This is the oldest course on Phuket Island and has been the location for many local and national tournaments.
Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is a must see, if you’re able to get to more than one course during your vacation.
The Laguna Golf Course is a very well kept par 71 course which has great reviews and is the home of the annual Singha Phuket Open. It is located north of Patong Beach in Cherngtalay on Srisoonthorn Road. Rental clubs, shoes and carts are available at all the courses on the island as well as caddies who are mandatory. Instructors are also at hand for one-on-one help with your game if you feel like it. There is always a clubhouse and restaurant (the 19th hole) on the premise for after-game drinks and dinner. There are large numbers of expats living in Phuket who golf (some of them every day), as well as a large portion of the millions of visitors to the island who come here for the sole purpose of 'hitting the links'. Book your tee-times early and be prepared for sometimes crowded courses. It seems everyone wants to come golfing in Phuket these days! If you’re obsessed with golfing and you’ve become bored of playing the same courses in Phuket, hop on a plane at Phuket International Airport (HKT) and fly to Bangkok, Pattaya, or Chiang Mai for more challenging golf courses!
